Mission Reconnect - Alumni Information Update

Alumni Association Revitalization Project

We are pleased to report that the school is in the process of re-developing an active association for our valued graduates and friends. Alumni play a vital role in the community and we acknowledge the value and importance of our graduates as active and influential ambassadors for the school.

With that in mind, a project has been planned to design and implement a brand new alumni approach and program, that supports the school's mission and ensures its members maintain a productive and life long relationship with UTMB and the School of Allied Health Sciences.

Project Goals and Objectives

Phase one of the project. This included a mailing to kick off “Mission Reconnect”, updates to the university wide alumni database and a review of current alumni activities of the school.

With the beginning of 2008, phase two of the project has launched into gear. This will involve:

  1. Address Recovery project – we want to learn more about where our alumni are and what they are doing so we can make sure they don’t miss out on the social and professional networking opportunities that are to come.

  2. The construction of a new alumni website - plans for a new on-line alumni directory are underway and we expect to launch any day now.

  3. Market Research of the University’s alumni community – we also want to find out more about the interests and needs of our alumni community so that we are able to develop a compelling and exciting alumni program.

  4. In house consultation on a proposed approach and operating structure for alumni relations at UTMB.

  5. An Alumni Program of Engagement – from the collective findings of all the initiatives listed above, we aim to develop a tailored alumni approach and program which allows graduates and friends of the University to keep in touch and benefit.

Things are progressing well, but we also need to hear from you! We want to hear about what services, benefits, activities etc you would like your alumni association to provide. Take the opportunity to play a part in the re-formation of an alumni association that satisfies your interests and meets your needs by letting us know your suggestions. We're especially interested in suggestions in how to increase alumni involvement and keep our network together. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

Send us an email with your comments and suggestions to maconley@utmb.edu and we'll make sure that your voice is heard!

As more information is available we will post it here. Again many thanks to you, our alumni and friends!

Sincerely,

Michelle Conley
