The Rehabilitation Research Career
Development (RRCD) Program will educate and train future rehabilitation
scientists. The program is funded by the National Center Medical
Rehabilitation Research (NICHD) and the National Institute Neurological Disorders and Stroke
(K12 HD055929).
University of Texas Medical Branch
is a major academic health sciences center located on the Texas Gulf Coast. Established in 1891, UTMB has grown from one building, 23 students and 13 faculty
to a modern health science center with more than 2,500 students, 1,000 faculty and 70 major
buildings spanning 84-acres. UTMB is ranked 10th among U.S. medical schools in number of medical degrees awarded to
underrepresented minorities, according to the July 2005 Black Issues
in Higher Education magazine’s list of top 100 degree producers.
University of
Florida is a leading public
research university situated in what Money magazine calls "the best place to
live" in the United States. Established in 1905, UF is the state's oldest,
largest and most comprehensive university. The 2,000-acre campus houses
more than 900 buildings, including 170 with classrooms and laboratories. UF is now one of the five largest universities
in the nation, expanding from 102 students in 1906 to more than 46,000 students currently.
