In the past four years UTMB physical therapist students have participated with nursing students, medical students and community volunteers in providing opportunities for camping experiences for children who are patients at UTMB with cancer and blood disorders. Through Rainbow Connection, a non-profit organization supporting families of children with cancer and blood disorders at UTMB, students work as counselors with these children and their siblings at Camp for All at Burton, Texas. This year nine PT students and one PT faculty member enjoyed many learning experiences as they participated in a variety of camp activities with the children. Pictured in the front row are Elizabeth Dalton, Kristine Kong, Emily Talbert, Berta Boone, Missy Young and Melissa Phillip. In the second row are Laurie Warriner, Edna Lopez, Mandy King and Carolyn Utsey.

Admission Requirement Changes |
Effective immediately: While we recommend these courses, applicants to UTMB MPT will no longer be required to complete courses in Management and Technical Writing. In addition, we will now accept any 4 hours of study in Physiology with lab for science majors. We will no longer require that the physiology course be an upper division course. Our preferred way for students to meet the physiology pre-requisite is to take A&P II plus Exercise Physiology. Call us if you have any questions regarding these changes. Students are encouraged to complete their Fall 2004 applications by November 1, 2004. |

IMPRINTS |
Students interested in Pediatric Physical Therapy could qualify for $16,000 to cover the cost of the additional classes and costs of the UTMB program through a new grant called IMPRINTS (Improved Training for Physical Therapists in Early Intervention Settings). Participants will complete 3 extra courses in pediatric physical therapy, go on one extra affiliation, and agree to practice in pediatric physical therapy for two years following graduation. Opportunities exist for 10 students per year for the next five years. Call us or e-mail IMPRINTS directly at IMPRINTS for further information. |
