Goals and Vision

The goal of the Division of Rehabilitation Sciences is to support and encourage research and graduate education designed to improve health care outcomes and quality of life for persons with disabilities and chronic diseases.

Our vision is to create a division and graduate curriculum contributing to interdisciplinary research, teaching and scholarly activities that are recognized internationally for their scientific quality and significance. The division will be integrated with other departments and centers directly advancing UTMB's mission to improve the 'health of Texas' and the nation.

Key activities and initiatives of the division include recruiting outstanding students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty who will implement collaborative and translational research programs, conduct and publish scientific studies with a focus on rehabilitation outcomes, and write grants to support the scholarly and training mission of the division.
